"A Christian Sense of Direction: Exploring the Human Senses" with Martin Marty & Peter Marty |
Seminar Overview |
Seminar |
“I believe that God has created me together with all that exists. God has given me and still preserves my body and soul: eyes, ears, and all limbs and senses; reason and all mental faculties. . .” Our senses give access to the spiritual through the material. Martin Thornton, Anglican divine, paraphrased: “Christianity is the most material of the religions. You cannot even get it started without a loaf of bread, a bottle of wine, and a river.” In this three-day seminar, Martin and Peter Marty will explore the five senses in the Christian life. Peter W. Marty will ponder what role the human senses play for those eager to make Christian sense of their lives. Drawing on cultural realities and biblical imagery, Peter will discuss the difference that a keen awareness of our senses can make for living with Christ-like perspective and passion. |
