The First Century World of Paul and
the Lordship of Christ

This exploration of early Christianity and the life and times of Paul with our two “road scholars”, Marcus Borg and John Dominic Crossan has profound relevance for what it means to be Christian in the 21st Century. We explore the rich archaeological treasures of Turkey, the impact of imperial theology on the emerging Christian movement of the first century, and what was at stake in declaring Jesus as Lord when Caesar claimed the same title. Discerning Paul’s voice in the letters of the New Testament and learning from his experience about what it means to “be in Christ” and to be a “new creation” is essential work for the serious disciple of Jesus today.
